XMFC/Kiss and Control

The next morning, Charles is awake far earlier than he normally would be, for once not having to be woken up by Erik's insistence. He's quiet and distant throughout breakfast, and with no classes first thing he quickly withdraws himself to his study.

It doesn't matter what Erik or anyone else says, he's still in turmoil over what he had almost done to Emma. He no longer trusts his own control. His powers have never truly scared him before now.

Erik huffs a sigh and then kisses Charles again, lips wandering to the underside of his jaw.

//You'd better not try this on all our enemies//

[guideshapelead]

//Of course not. But it works well enough on you.//

Charles allows them both one more lingering kiss, before forcefully rolling his chair away. They should work.

[diecastking]

Erik folds his arms, sulking, but accepts that they should probably train.

"Instead, perhaps, I should attempts to touch your face. To avoid...distractions."

[guideshapelead]

"Surely there is some mid ground between kissing me and killing me that you could attempt?" Charles asks with a quirk of an eyebrow.

"Perhaps I can stop you from attempting something less... physical."

Erik nods.

"Fine, liebe. I shall attempt to pick up this book from the table."

Erik gestures towards the copy of Camus' L'Étranger he had been reading earlier.

Charles gives Erik a moment to put up his walls, before starting to claw them back down. Without the immediate threat of being killed or injured, he can think his commands through far more clearly.

//Erik, ignore the book.//

The book fades into insignificance. Perhaps what he really wants a hot shower...

But no. He is focussed on the book. He had to pick up the book.

His fingers reach towards it.

[guideshapelead]

//Erik// Charles tries again, firmer still.

//You do not want the book. You want to sit back down.//

[diecastking]

But Erik knows what he wants. He has honed his focus to perfection. He will not be persuaded.

His fingers brush the cover of the book.

[guideshapelead]

//ERIK STEP AWAY FROM THAT BOOK IMMEDIATELY.//

Charles pushes harder, putting all of his mental effort into getting Erik away from the book.

[diecastking]

Erik steps back and stays there.

He can't touch that book. Charles said so.

[guideshapelead]

//NOW BRING DOWN YOUR WALLS. COME BACK TO ME.// Charles continues at that same level of power, hoping that this time Erik will remember himself without drama.

[diecastking]

Erik hesitates - but Charles wants it.

He drops his protections and wanders obediently back to Charles' side.

[guideshapelead]

//Come back to yourself, Erik// Charles wills, trying not to panic again. His walls are down, it should be easy to break the control.

[diecastking]

Erik blinks a few times, his mind reverting at the gentle release of Charles' control.

He looks down at his hands: no book.

Erik grins at Charles.

[guideshapelead]

Relief rushes through Charles as Erik looks at him freely again, grinning without being told to do so.

"It worked."

[diecastking]

Erik kisses Charles, still smiling.

"I knew you could do it."

[guideshapelead]

Charles smiles against Erik's lips, arms looping around his neck.

//Are we done for tonight, now?//

[diecastking]

//I can think of other ways to spend our time// Erik says with a smile against his lips and lifts Charles into his arms.

//Do tell// Charles encourages as Erik lifts him, holding tighter around his fiancé's neck.
